OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
The objective of the programme is to promote technical cooperation, stimulate interest and coordinate support towards health development, based on global and regional strategies and WHO guidelines. The objective of the unit is to provide advice on programme and managerial problems encountered in project execution, and administrative support involved in day-to day running of the WHO office.
Description of duties:
- Assess project proposals, analyzing viability of design including resource considerations and alignment with WHO country programme objectives;

- Acquire information and perspectives from government officials and institutional counterparts on operational matters creating relationships of trust and understanding that underpin effective coordination and collaboration;

- Assist programme delivery excellence by delivering timely administrative support, advice and assistance to programme and administrative teams and colleagues on financial, human resource and infrastructure regulations and procedures;

-Ensure a smooth, reliable and efficient administrative service that reflects positively upon the WHO Representative (WR), country office and models WHO standards.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential: University degree in public or business administration or a related field, or equivalent in training and self study (as per definition of the ICSC Master Standard for Classification of Professional Posts Glossary)
Skills:
Sound knowledge of office management and administration, administrative skills, basic accounting;

Specialised knowledge of WHO administrative and financial rules, procedures and practices an asset.
Experience:
Essential: At least seven years experience of which at least three at international level in office management and general administration.

Desirable: WHO Representative Office or other international experience in an administrative position.
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English and a good working knowledge of French;

Knowledge of Portuguese an asset.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
USD 46,037 at single rate
USD 49,082 with primary dependants Post Adjustment: 36.6 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
